How a consultation works
Every service follows the same path. Choose the one that fits your concern and book a time. You meet a qualified Australian practitioner by secure video and talk it through. Together you agree a suitable next step, and it stays on your file for next time.
One platform for your whole health journey.
See how it worksTelehealth is not suitable for every health concern. Your practitioner may instead recommend in-person assessment, urgent care, a GP review, a referral to another doctor, further investigation or no treatment.
A prescription, referral or test is one possible outcome, only where your practitioner considers it clinically appropriate.
Results vary from person to person. An assessment does not guarantee any particular outcome.
In an emergency, call 000. For crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14, available around the clock.
Questions about our services
How do I choose a service?
Pick the service that matches what is on your mind. If you are not sure, start with a GP consultation and your practitioner will point you to the right one. Every NexaHealth service is a live video consultation with a qualified Australian practitioner, so the booking process is the same either way.
What happens in a consultation?
Every consultation is a live video conversation with a qualified Australian practitioner. They listen to your concern, review your history, and talk through what may be going on. Together you agree a suitable next step. That may be advice, monitoring, a test, a referral, a care plan or a prescription, if deemed medically appropriate.
Do my consultations share one record?
Yes. Your consultations, results and care plan sit together in one record, whatever service you book. If you start with a GP consultation and later book a mental health or ongoing care consultation, your practitioner can see what came before, with your consent.
Is a prescription guaranteed?
No. A prescription is one possible outcome of a consultation, and only where your practitioner considers it clinically appropriate. Your practitioner may instead recommend advice, lifestyle support, monitoring, a referral, further investigation or no treatment. The consultation is the service you book, and the clinical decision sits with your practitioner.
Is telehealth right for me?
Telehealth is not suitable for all health concerns. Depending on your circumstances, your practitioner may recommend an in-person assessment, urgent care, a GP review, a referral to another doctor, further investigation or no treatment. If your situation is urgent, call 000. For crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
