Is this right for you?

When telehealth may, and may not, suit

Some concerns need a physical examination and are not suitable for telehealth. Your practitioner will let you know if an in-person assessment would serve you better, and can help you work out where to go.

Telehealth may suit you if

  • Everyday concerns that can be talked through by video
  • You have a private space and a device with a camera
  • You want care that works alongside your regular GP

Better seen in person if

  • You need a hands-on physical examination
  • Symptoms that are severe or rapidly worsening
  • You need in-person tests or procedures the same day

Telehealth is not suitable for every health concern. Your practitioner may instead recommend in-person assessment, urgent care, a GP review, a referral to another doctor, further investigation or no treatment.

A prescription, referral or test is one possible outcome, only where your practitioner considers it clinically appropriate.

Results vary from person to person. An assessment does not guarantee any particular outcome.

Women's Health questions

What can I discuss in a women's health consultation?

Whatever has been on your mind about your health. That might be fatigue, low energy, mood changes, sleep, skin, contraception questions, or changes to your cycle. Your practitioner starts with your symptoms and your history, then talks through what an assessment would involve for you.

Can everything be handled by video?

No. Some concerns need a physical examination, a swab, or imaging, and those cannot happen over video. Your practitioner will recommend an in-person assessment where that is appropriate, and explain what to ask for when you go.

Is my consultation private?

Yes. Consultations are held by secure video with a qualified Australian practitioner, and your information is handled in line with our Privacy Policy. Your notes stay in your record so you do not have to repeat the same history at every appointment.

What happens if tests are needed?

Your practitioner will explain what a test would help clarify and why. Where clinically appropriate, they can provide a pathology request form to take to a collection centre. Results come back into your record, and you can book a follow-up consultation to talk them through.
