Is this right for you?

When telehealth may, and may not, suit

Telehealth is not suitable for every mental health concern, and your practitioner will tell you when another form of care would serve you better. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, please call 000, or Lifeline on 13 11 14, at any time.

Telehealth may suit you if

  • Everyday concerns that can be talked through by video
  • You have a private space and a device with a camera
  • You want care that works alongside your regular GP

Better seen in person if

  • You need a hands-on physical examination
  • Symptoms that are severe or rapidly worsening
  • You need in-person tests or procedures the same day

Telehealth is not suitable for every mental health concern. Your practitioner may instead recommend in-person assessment, urgent care, a GP review, a referral to another doctor, further investigation or no treatment.

A prescription, referral or test is one possible outcome, only where your practitioner considers it clinically appropriate.

Results vary from person to person. An assessment does not guarantee any particular outcome.

Why NexaHealth

Your health, in one record.

Your consultations, results and care plan stay in one place. Everyday health, mental wellbeing and healthy ageing, carried forward from one appointment to the next.

Your results
pathology & imaging · in one place

When your practitioner refers you for pathology or imaging, your results are gathered securely in one place, so you and your care team can see the full picture.

One platform
everyday care to healthy ageing

GP care, mental health, chronic disease, weight and metabolic health, men’s and women’s health, preventive care and healthy ageing. Start with one, and your history moves with you across the rest.

Your care plan
written up · agreed with you

A clear plan, agreed with your practitioner. That may be advice, a referral, ongoing monitoring or a prescription, where clinically appropriate. Everything discussed in your consultation is written up and saved in one place. Follow-up and regular reviews keep the plan current as things change.

Your care plan Agreed with you

Everything from your consultation, kept in one place and updated as your care continues.

Simple, upfront pricing

No surprises. The price you see is the consultation fee.

The fee covers your practitioner's time during the consultation. A prescription, referral or test is issued only where it is clinically appropriate. You fill any prescription at the pharmacy of your choice, and medicine costs are separate.

Mental Health questions

Can I get a mental health care plan online?

Not in every case. A Mental Health Treatment Plan is a Medicare item with its own rules, including requirements about your usual practice and your recent appointments there. Your practitioner will explain whether those rules are met for you. Where they are not, they can still offer private mental health support, or guide you back to your usual GP.

What if I need urgent help?

Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or at risk of harm, call 000, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14. Both are available around the clock. If something changes between appointments and you are not safe, please use those numbers rather than waiting.

Will I speak with the same practitioner again?

We cannot promise the same practitioner at every appointment. Where you continue with ongoing care, your practitioner can arrange follow-up. Your notes stay in your record either way, so whoever you speak with next has your history in front of them before the call starts.

Can medication be discussed in a mental health consultation?

It can be discussed, and a prescription is one possible outcome where your practitioner considers it clinically appropriate. Many consultations lead to other things: advice, ongoing support, a care plan, a referral, or no treatment. Some concerns are better assessed in person, and your practitioner will say so.
